about

Artifacts is the second album by Portland-based modern folk trio Flyover States. Conceptually, these songs are all sonic portraits of definitive moments from their individual pasts while also seeking to transcribe aspects of the isolation (Baskets, Hold the Line) felt presently during the pandemic, which also delayed the recording of these songs by nearly a year.

Musically, these songs are stylistically diverse with echoes from a broad array of influences. As a sophomore effort, Artifacts is a continuation of Flyover States’ signature explorations into sharing lead, three part harmonic blend, and reflective lyricism while digging deeper into dynamism and form. With a few exceptions and features, Artifacts was recorded consistent with how Flyover States performs instrumentally: Jessica Patton on guitar, Steven Patton on keys, and Aaron Elliott on bass.
